Why STEINS;GATE Is Trending Right Now
STEINS;GATE is trending on the strength of its 95% positive review score across 5,403 player reviews and a solid 87/100 Metacritic rating. Despite a -39% dip in the last 7 days, it maintains 607 peak concurrent players nearly a decade after release—a testament to the game's lasting cultural impact and the passionate fanbase it cultivated through anime and manga adaptations.
This is a single-player visual novel, not a competitive multiplayer game, so it stands apart from trending action or PvP titles. The Science Adventure series has a dedicated cult following, and at $5.99, it's an accessible entry point for VN newcomers.

What the Community Is Saying
Players rave about the emotionally devastating story, stellar character development, and incredible writing—many call it one of the most 'tear-inducing' games ever made. The main criticism: it's a text-heavy visual novel, so if you don't enjoy reading or non-interactive storytelling, this won't click for you.
One of those games that made me feel empty inside after I finished it, wanting to know more about the lives of these characters who I had spent so much time with. A beautiful game. TUTTURUUU

I played Chaos;Head Noah and Chaos;Child before this, and with the time travel thing I wasn't sure that I would like Steins;Gate. However, the characters are amazing, the story is amazingly written, and it's overall one of my favorite games in the SciADV series.
If you haven't yet found yourself in the Science Adventure series... then its your time to start. Jump in with the classic Steins;Gate here which is well drawn and voice acted. Navigate through sci-fi story over the course of just a summer and get lost within that special time.
Probably the only Visual Novel I'll get besides Steins Gate 0 in my life, and even though I don't play Visual Novels, I enjoyed it a ton. Buying this game is the choice of Steins Gate, it is simply inevitable. El. Psy. Kongroo.
