Why Omelet You Cook Is Trending

Omelet You Cook is one of Steam's great feel-good stories of 2025–2026. It launched in Early Access and maintained a 100% positive review score for several months — a virtually unheard-of achievement covered by IGN and PC Gamer. The streak was broken by one contrarian reviewer in November 2025, prompting a wave of community solidarity that only boosted the game's profile further.

The "Balatro meets Papa's Pizzeria" tagline hit the mark perfectly: it captures the addictive one-more-run loop of Balatro but applies it to chaotic egg-based cooking challenges. You assemble omelets from conveyor belt ingredients for increasingly eccentric students, discovering wild synergies that turn a simple egg dish into something absurdly powerful. Steam 250 ranked it the #1 Hidden Gem on Steam during its Early Access period.

About Omelet You Cook

Welcome to Principal Clucker's school cafeteria, where the students have very specific omelet demands and the conveyor belt never stops. Omelet You Cook is a cooking roguelike from SchuBox Games where you assemble omelets in real-time from a scrolling line of ingredients — think Sushi Go! meets Balatro, with eggs.

Each run you unlock new ingredients and discover combinations that interact in unexpected ways. A dash of hot sauce might ignite the whole omelet. A rare truffle ingredient might multiply the value of everything nearby. The game's genius is making ingredient selection feel like deckbuilding — there's always a better combo to discover, always a reason to try one more run.

The visual presentation is charming and unhinged in the best way. Quirky character designs, squishy animations, and the tyrannical Principal Clucker barking impossibly specific omelet requirements create a game that's simultaneously cozy and stressful. It's one of those rare games where even losing feels fun because you immediately know what you'll do differently next time.

What Players Are Saying

✅ Reasons to Play

  • Genuine "one more run" addiction — Balatro-level loop compulsion
  • Wacky ingredient synergies reward creativity and experimentation
  • Developer responsiveness: community feedback shaped the full 1.0 release

❌ Things to Consider

  • Premise is extremely niche — egg-based cooking roguelikes aren't for everyone
  • Conveyor belt mechanic can feel cramped and frustrating on early runs
  • Short initial session length — some want more content per run

Chaotic fun rougelike inventory management game requiring strategy and luck! Got it after watching Kirsche play on stream.

Deckbuilding, pixel-fiddling, meta-progression, troll mechanics, tomatoes infused with the power of 1,000 suns. Why is there a coconut in my omelette? Who decides these recipes?! Fun + cozy. Very replayable. Crazy fox lady Kirsche says "Time for the omelet inspection!"

Found this game through Kirsche and I'm glad I did! Very much an easy to learn, difficult to master kind of game that's awesome to spend an hour or two at a time playing. The experience can be described as soft, yet crunchy and a little chewy - just like a well made omelet!

Best rouge lite to come out since balatro. There are so many viable, Chaotic, delicious, and wacky strategies that each play through is a new experience. Love making potato lime crab gummy bear turnip cheddar chicken nugget jalepeno omelets.

Great fun game, watched vtuber Kirsche play it on 2/7/26 and saw how much fun she had with it and so i had to try it. Downloaded the demo and had a lot of fun, then bought it fully. Can say, the full game is harder than the demo, for some reason, but it is still VERY fun.

👎 Not Recommended

I normally spend hundreds of hours min/maxing these Roguelike games, but there's just something about this game that doesn't quite click for me. I think it's the overall premise that loses me, I 'get' the gimmick of having everything on an omelette, but it's just not fun and not…
