Quick verdict FISH is trending — +848 Steam followers in the last 7 days, per SteamDB as of June 29, 2026. FISH is well worth playing in 2026 — it holds 94% positive across 243 Steam reviews, and peaked at 21 concurrent players in the last 24 hours.

Why FISH Is Trending Right Now

FISH launched 7 days ago to 94% positive reviews (243 reviews)—impressive critical reception for a fresh indie platformer. Peak concurrent players hit just 21, signaling cult appeal rather than mainstream breakout. The flat 7-day trend (+0%) means word-of-mouth hasn't yet fueled exponential growth.

What makes FISH weird: horror aesthetic meets Run & Gun platformer meets surreal comedy—a niche combo that lands with hardcore indie fans. Players love the stylized art and unforgiving difficulty, but criticize janky combat and unfair attack patterns. It's built for a specific audience: skill-focused players who'll tolerate rough edges for unique vision.

the finest game of all time highly recommend for fans of coloring books and trying to put the square block in the circle hole

Geoff Keighley and the judges at the game awards are sellouts and frauds if this doesn't win game of the year 2026.

Great game so far. Question for the dev, how exactly are some of these sound effects going to stay in when they are definitely copyrighted?

This is literally genually lowkey mediumkey and highkey random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ go and I love it btw the game IS kinda hard but you get used to it and the part that I love about it is that there isnt a "meta" because everithing just works (exept the starter pistol no offence). I am really exited for the full version to reliese

It's fun, but it was too difficult in a bad way. I can't dodge, and sometimes the shield won't parry damage, and the fish is very slow and janky. And then, the attacks are not readable, like the sweeper, i don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ know why i got damaged. Overall it was a good experience, but i don't think i will stay at the game because of it's combat. i'm sorry for refunding. Goodluck!

As much as I would like to love this game, as of right now, it’s not really worth your money. Maybe in the future it could be good. The demo is free and is only missing one level from the base game.

Should You Play It? Pros & Cons

✅ Reasons to Play

  • 94% positive from 243 reviews—exceptional launch reception for a 7-day-old indie title
  • Unique stylized art and dark humor that stands out in a crowded platformer market
  • Punishing Run & Gun mechanics reward player skill and pattern recognition
  • Just $8.99 with no battle pass, MTX, or hidden costs

❌ Things to Consider

  • Only 21 peak concurrent players—minimal community and ultra-niche appeal
  • Combat feels janky with unreadable attack patterns; death often feels unfair rather than earned
  • Audio copyright issues flagged in reviews; unclear if sound effects require replacement before full release

Common Questions About FISH

Is FISH worth buying in 2026?

For indie platformer fans: yes. 94% positive (243 reviews) at $8.99 is rare validation. But know what you're buying: a janky, punishing platformer with niche appeal and unforgiving combat. Don't expect AAA polish; do expect unique art, dark humor, and a genuine challenge.

How many players does FISH have?

24-hour peak: 21 concurrent players. 7-day trend is flat (+0%), meaning the player count hasn't grown or shrunk. For a brand-new $8.99 indie platformer, this is typical—it's targeting a specific audience, not mainstream adoption.

Is FISH multiplayer or co-op?

Singleplayer only. FISH is a solo campaign-driven platformer with no multiplayer, co-op, PvP, or crossplay modes.

How long does it take to beat FISH?

No official playtime data, but community reviews reference an upcoming 'full version,' suggesting the current build is incomplete or early access. Estimate 2-4 hours for the current campaign, though punishing difficulty spikes may extend that significantly.
