SWAPMEAT — Is It Worth Playing in 2026?

211 players at 24-hour peak
PC (Steam) Shooter $9.89 Very Positive 260 reviews

Why SWAPMEAT Is Trending Right Now

SWAPMEAT launched 11 days ago to a remarkable 90% positive review score (260 reviews), marking one of Steam's best-reviewed indie debuts. However, the 24-hour peak sits at just 211 concurrent players with zero 7-day growth—this is a critically acclaimed but niche phenomenon rather than a mainstream breakout.

The body-part swapping mechanic sets it apart from Risk of Rain 2, which it echoes structurally. Unlike roguelikes where builds lock in, SWAPMEAT lets you swap alien limbs freely mid-combat—triple-jump legs, turret-dropping torsos, grenade turkey heads. It's geared toward players who want chaotic, modular progression and goofy humor over competitive depth.

Quite fun. It's like Risk of Rain 2 but with stealing meat from fallen enemies and slapping it on your character.

Fun game! The movement is really well done and it is very easy to jump in and just start playing. The concept of swapping body parts is hilarious and there are a ton of different combinations possible, leading to some unique build options.

It's risk of rain but extra meaty and delicious. And the music is GOOD.

Fun game, plays similarly to Risk of Rain 2, but with meta-progression

Lots of fun. Like Risk of Rain or Megabonk, but significantly goofier. You can swap parts to get different weapons and abilities whenever, as opposed to being somewhat stuck with your choices. If you want another kind of weapon, armor, legs, or head, just kill the bad guys and take 'em lol Really enjoyable. I see this being lots of fun with friends. Also, the puns. Lots of puns. Love it.

Common Questions About SWAPMEAT

Is SWAPMEAT worth buying in 2026?

Yes, if you loved Risk of Rain 2's chaos but wanted more build flexibility. The 90% positive review score on 260 early reviews is a strong signal, and at $9.89 you're risking minimal cash. Just know the player base is tiny and multiplayer status is unconfirmed.

How many players does SWAPMEAT have?

24-hour peak: 211 concurrent players. 7-day trend: +0%—zero growth over the past week. It's a micro-community 11 days post-launch, but the reviews are climbing fast, so momentum may still build.

Is SWAPMEAT multiplayer or co-op?

Unknown. Reviews hint it's fun 'with friends,' but the developer hasn't officially confirmed multiplayer or co-op modes. Assume single-player roguelike unless documentation states otherwise.

How long does it take to beat SWAPMEAT?

SWAPMEAT has no traditional main story—it's a roguelike. Individual runs last 15–50 minutes depending on skill and luck. Most roguelikes offer 20–100+ hours of progression before unlocking everything. No specific playtime data available yet.
