RUNNING WITH RIFLES — Is It Worth Playing in 2026?

908 players at 24-hour peak
PC (Steam) Shooter $2.24 Very Positive 5,962 reviews

Why RUNNING WITH RIFLES Is Trending Right Now

RUNNING WITH RIFLES maintains an impressive 89% positive rating (5,962 reviews) with 908 24-hour peak players, but that's down 70% from the 7-day average—a sign of the niche co-op community driving activity. For an 11-year-old indie game, this review score is remarkable, though the volatile player count reflects its status as a cult classic rather than mainstream hit.

RWR separates itself through squad-focused tactics blended with open-world RPG exploration and tight local multiplayer that works even on high ping. Communication and bot AI make team coordination the core appeal. Target audience: co-op players who value tactical depth and mods over AAA polish, plus anyone hunting a hidden gem at $2.24.

This is an insane hidden masterpiece. Absolutely Incredible team-play when you have friends, the communication and tatics with bots is good, the local multiplayer even with high ping is not laggy or impossible to play, the workshop addons are so good, and so enjoyable that i just feel sad not knowing about this game before

the enemy can not comprehend my willingness to shell my own men for the sake of victory

👍 Recommended 36h played

Good Simple Fun, as it should be.

👎 Not Recommended 4h played

Fun for a couple hours until one of the missions endlessly spawns tanks. If you aren't high enough level to call in your own, get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ I guess. Trying to use the RPG to take them out is so brutally unfun, it'll randomly ground early or go clean over the vehicles that there's 0 point in trying to actually tactically deal with the issue.

Common Questions About RUNNING WITH RIFLES

Is RUNNING WITH RIFLES worth buying in 2026?

Yes, if you have co-op friends. With 89% positive reviews and a $2.24 price, it's risk-free for squads that value tactics over twitch reflexes. Solo players should know bots are capable but can't replace human unpredictability—the game shines through communication and squad coordination.

How many players does RUNNING WITH RIFLES have?

908 players peaked in the last 24 hours, down 70% from the 7-day average. The player base is volatile—spikes during sales or community events, then drops. Don't expect a healthy matchmaking queue; pre-formed squads are your best bet.

Is RUNNING WITH RIFLES multiplayer or co-op?

Both. Supports 4-player online co-op campaigns, local couch co-op, and PvP modes—all on PC only with no cross-play. Co-op with friends is far more reliable than matchmaking given the small player pool.

How long does it take to beat RUNNING WITH RIFLES?

Campaign takes roughly 15–25 hours depending on difficulty and exploration. Completionists reach 50–100 hours chasing achievements, replaying with different squad loadouts, and testing workshop mods. No procedural generation—replayability depends on how much you value tactical variation and squad role switching.

Is it free to play?

No, Running With Rifles costs $908 on Steam. It is not a free-to-play game, though Steam sales occasionally offer discounts.
