Why Resident Evil 3 Is Trending Right Now

RE3's spiking 51% this week with 2,359 concurrent players—a significant bump for a 2020 remake. The surge likely ties to franchise momentum, possible sales, or content creator attention driving fresh interest in Capcom's survival horror shooter.

Players respect the gameplay fundamentals—the dodge system is genuinely praised—but consensus is brutal: RE3 is *too short for full price*. Compared to the RE2 Remake, it feels rushed and incomplete. Most recommend grabbing it on sale (€7–10) instead.

Gamers love the fluid dodge mechanics and solid action gameplay, plus the bundled multiplayer mode. The fatal flaw: it's too short and priced too high—every review says buy on sale only.

The remake might be too cut off from the original but I genuinely feel like this is a good game. So I recommend it, it’s often at a discount and you can grab it for 7–10 EUR, which is a very good price for such a game. Full Game Walkthrough: https://youtu.be/LsgghmyUQTY

I dislike the fact that this game is extremely short in story, But I did like the gameplay and the dodging system, that's actually a cool addition, Therefore I recommend getting this game at a sale, its not worth getting this game at it's full price.

The game is good... but not that good. Especially if you finish RE2 right before it, like I did. The tension from the first minutes, without any proper context, isn't for me. It feels too rushed and overblown. Still, it's a good decent mid-tier game.

Short and sweet. It's not a perfect game, more so when compared to the other RE remakes, but it s a fun title with some replay ability for faster runs with better upgrades. When on sale this is worth jumping in, but I would look elsewhere when full price.

A short but satisfying linear game with no backtracking but not worth for the full price

👎 Not Recommended 16h played

game's honestly hot garbage. they made nemesis all cool but you see him like 2 times max besides the boss fights, he actually stalked you in the original. reduced to scripted sequences. not to mention its missing like 80% of the original game's enemies, content overall.

Should You Play It? Pros & Cons

✅ Reasons to Play

  • Dodge mechanic is a genuine innovation—adds skill-based evasion that sets it apart from other RE entries
  • Solid action-horror gameplay across 5–8 hours with faster speed-run potential if you replay
  • Includes RE Resistance 1v4 multiplayer mode bundled in (separate game mode from story)
  • 82% positive reviews from 36.9K players—strong community satisfaction with what's there

❌ Things to Consider

  • Campaign is short (5–8 hours)—feels cut down compared to RE2 Remake, especially at $39.99 full price
  • Not worth the full $39.99—nearly universal player sentiment says wait for 50–70% off sales
  • Rushes pacing and context, missing depth of the original RE3 or modern RE2 Remake

Common Questions About Resident Evil 3

How long is Resident Evil 3's story?

5–8 hours for a single playthrough on normal difficulty. Most players finish in one sitting. Replay value exists (speedruns, upgrades), but it's short compared to RE2 Remake.

What about the Resistance multiplayer mode?

RE Resistance is a 1v4 asymmetric multiplayer game bundled with the campaign. It's included, but player focus is on the single-player story—no word on active matchmaking populations.

Is this harder than RE2 Remake?

No confirmed difficulty spike. The dodge system changes combat flow, making it more action-focused and less puzzle-heavy than classic RE pacing.

Is it worth $39.99?

No. Wait for 50% off or deeper discounts—which hit regularly. Players universally recommend buying at €7–10 (≈$7–11 USD). At full price, the 5–8 hour runtime doesn't justify the cost.

Is it free to play?

No, Resident Evil 3 costs $39.99 on Steam. It is not a free-to-play game, though Steam sales occasionally offer discounts.

How many people play Resident Evil 3?
