Why PEAK Is Trending

PEAK launched in June 2025 and became one of the fastest-selling indie games in Steam history — 1 million copies in just 6 days. The game was developed by Team PEAK, a collaboration between Aggro Crab (Another Crab's Treasure) and Landfall (Content Warning), who initially built it during a game jam before expanding it into a full release.

The appeal is deceptively simple: you and friends are stranded nature scouts who must climb an enormous mountain to get rescued. Every step matters, falls are punishing, and the multiplayer chaos of four people trying to coordinate on a vertical cliff face is endlessly entertaining. Streaming audiences fell in love with the comedy of failure, and the game's $4.95 price tag made it an instant pick-up for every gaming group.

With 33,903 players at 24-hour peak, PEAK Review 2026 - Is It Worth Playing? | TrendingGames.gg is one of Steam's most-played — games this week.

Should You Play PEAK in 2026?

PEAK is a co-op climbing game where you and up to three friends play as stranded nature scouts who must reach the summit of a massive, dangerous mountain to get rescued. The mountain is procedurally challenging — footholds, ropes, and precarious ledges demand careful coordination. One wrong move, especially when carrying another player or critical supplies, can send your whole team tumbling.

The genius of PEAK is how it generates stories. You'll remember the run where someone fell off a cliff 10 minutes from the summit. Or the time you all made it to the top by the skin of your teeth. These shared moments are rare in gaming and the reason PEAK went viral so quickly on streaming platforms.

In 2026, PEAK remains an easy recommendation for any friend group. The developers announced they're slowing down the update pace from their sprint during launch, but the base game is polished and complete. At $4.95, it's probably the best value-per-hour co-op game on Steam right now.

What Players Are Saying

✅ Reasons to Play

  • Insanely cheap at $4.95 — lower barrier to buy in for the whole friend group
  • Generates legendary shared memories — "remember when we fell off the ridge" moments
  • Polished, responsive controls that make every mistake feel fair and funny

❌ Things to Consider

  • Best with 2–4 friends — playing solo is much less entertaining
  • Runs are relatively short — some players want more content for the long term
  • Update frequency has slowed in 2026 as the dev team recovers from their launch sprint

This game is clearly meant to be played with friends… and I don’t really have anyone to play it with 🫶 Still, playing it solo felt way more meaningful than I expected. The atmosphere, the silence, and that constant feeling of pushing forward really stay with you 🎮✨ It never felt…

Look, PEAK is literally the best game that I absolutely cannot stand. It's so good that it's actually stressful. My boyfriend and I play it together, and it's basically a race to see who's going to lose their mind first. We're actually a great team, but this game just knows…

You don't need friends for it to be fun. That makes it way better value than most coop games. Can be pretty hard, but it's very rewarding. The devs left in bugs, good sign. (they care about fun) Take Bing bong to the end or bad things will happen

Spending more time trying to climb a particular section only to see a YT Video of a speed runner do it faster than how long it takes for me to get out of the beach is a blow to my pride, but still a fun game nontheless.

I want to give a positive review but I want to keep this negative so they can see it. I love this game but the roots biome isn't it for me. I think what you have to deal with compared to where it happens in progression it just too hard. this feels like a caldera replacement, not…

Is PEAK worth playing in 2026?

Yes — PEAK is one of the best co-op games of 2025 and still worth playing in 2026. At just $4.95, it's extraordinarily cheap for the entertainment value you get. The climbing mechanics are challenging, the humor is constant, and it's one of those rare games that's genuinely more fun the more people you play with.

A single run of PEAK takes roughly 2–5 hours depending on skill and how much you fall. But the real appeal is replaying it — different routes, trying harder difficulties, and dying hilariously with friends means most players put in 15–40 hours total.
