Parallel Experiment — Is It Worth Playing in 2026?

132 players at 24-hour peak
PC (Steam) Puzzle $4.99 Very Positive 345 reviews

Why Parallel Experiment Is Trending Right Now

Parallel Experiment sits at 132 concurrent players with a strong 87% positive review score from 345 players, proving the game delivers on its asymmetric co-op premise. However, it's experiencing a steep -61% 7-day decline, typical for niche puzzle titles 279 days post-launch as the initial wave of players moves on.

What sets it apart: each player receives different puzzle clues, making solo play impossible and forcing genuine cooperation. This asymmetric design appeals directly to couples and hardcore puzzle fans comparing it favorably to We Were Here. The paranormal thriller atmosphere consistently outshines players' expectations of a detective story.

A lot of co-op puzzle fun. Less of a detective story and more of a paranormal thriller than expected, but a lot of fun and great extension and improvement on the prequel's mechanics. If you love puzzle games, this is for you!

Some of the sections right at the end of the game were kinda frustrating. Other than that i had a good time.

Great game! I really enjoyed the puzzles. As a coop puzzle game I had even more fun with this than We were here. The Charakters are desinged with love, as is the whole game. They just released an update with new content which I will be playing as soon as my mate is available.

👎 Not Recommended 5h played

I thought I would like this after playing the first one, but it just felt so long and the puzzles weren't very mentally satisfying. The story was mediocre. Though it did have a variety of different play styles, it just felt very awkward and didn't mesh really well.

Is Parallel Experiment worth buying in 2026?

Yes, if you have a co-op partner. The 87% positive score from 345 reviews proves the game delivers. At $4.99, it's low-risk. Catch: the -61% player drop means you'll need your own partner—there's no matchmaking.

How many players does Parallel Experiment have?

24-hour peak of 132 players, down 61% over 7 days. The playerbase is shrinking since June 2025 launch, normal for niche co-op puzzle games that depend on existing friend groups.

Is Parallel Experiment multiplayer or co-op?

2-player co-op only. Each detective controls one character and sees half the puzzle clues—you must communicate to solve it. No solo mode, PvP, or online matchmaking.

How long does it take to beat Parallel Experiment?

Exact playtime varies by puzzle-solving speed, but expect 3–5 hours for main story based on similar co-op puzzle titles. A recent content update adds replayable material beyond the base campaign.

Is it free to play?

No, Parallel Experiment costs $132 on Steam. It is not a free-to-play game, though Steam sales occasionally offer discounts.
