GRIME II

GRIME II exploded onto everyone's radar when developer Clover Bite dropped the release date trailer at the Convergence Games Showcase on February 19, 2026. The original GRIME was beloved for its utterly unique parry-and-absorb combat — where you literally consume your enemies to gain their abilities — and the sequel cranks everything up. GRIME II introduces tendril attacks made of disembodied hands and the ability to summon "Molds" shaped like fallen foes, building on one of the most distinctive combat systems in the souls-like genre.

With the surreal body-horror aesthetic of the first game pushed even further, and a bizarre art-obsessed world to explore, GRIME II has become one of the most wishlisted upcoming Metroidvania titles on Steam heading into spring 2026.

In GRIME II you play as a living black hole reborn into a new form — a being capable of absorbing enemies with tentacle-like tendrils composed of human hands. The world you explore is a decayed civilization obsessed with art, sculpture, and organic architecture that blurs the line between flesh and stone.

Building on the first game's celebrated parry system, GRIME II introduces "Grasp" attacks that let you latch onto enemies at range and "Mold" summons — spectral copies of absorbed creatures you can call into battle. The result is a combat system that rewards mastery and experimentation unlike most Metroidvanias.
