I enjoy watching the game play itself. It has a very relaxing feel. I can put it on one monitor while doing other tasks and glance over to enjoy the depicted scenes. When I have played, I've mostly learned how to use baits from the idle mode which helps. I do think it would be neat to have an identifier for fish in the water (so we don't have to jump to the book), but probably only for those that have a hard time telling the difference between some of the fish.
I was almost put off by the 'idle' game tag, but I'm so glad I bought it anyway. If you play it actively, it's the fishing game I've always dreamed of. It's pretty as a picture, fishing has a great feel to it, upgrading your equipment is satisfying, and your four-legged companion is absolutely the best.
This game is beautiful, but why the ♥♥♥♥ do you have to change your rod in order to catch certain fish. How are fish "scared" of your rod? You are already changing the bait/ bobber. Also not a big fan of the touch screen style controls. Artistically they are different but having the option to use keyboard shortcuts would be a great feature. Having a huge area for changing equipment, which gets in the way of trying to cast your rod, is really annoying.
