Only played the campaign as I'm not interested in the multiplayer aspect of the game. This game feels old. I love it nonetheless, mostly because I spent countless hours in it as a kid. Glad I got to reply it in this newer form and get a ton of nostalgia out of it. I will assume that most people playing this now, did play it when they were younger. So get it at whatever price that is worth it to you. I its exactly what I expected from it.
Retold is everything a remaster should be. Newer players should also feel blessed by the gods.
I've always love these games, ever since I was young and picked this game up off the shelf in circuit city! The Retold version just brings it back but in 2026 terms, and they've even added new races to play, like the Chinese and Japanese factions!
I was expecting the same old game content I remember from way back when I had a hard cd copy of the game decades ago. Maybe it's because of the version I bought, but there's several new campaigns that fully sate my appetite for the classic AOE experience.
Best RTS game ever made, the Re-Master is 11/10, countless hours spent on the original as a kid, and this is is a brilliant addition to the entire gameplay experience.
Bought a premium edition and then they've added additional bullcrap with expansion pass. Should've pirated it
